Referral Game: Facebook beats Google

In recent days almost everyone is familiar with the war between Facebook and Google. Immediately after the launch of Facebook when it gained popularity, Google tried its level best to buy Facebook but they failed. Facebook is becoming a big social network and is currently ranking on second position in Alexa rankings(site that determines the international rankings for site). With the increasing popularity the major search engines and we can say (the competitors of Google) like Yahoo, Bing and AOL receives more traffic from Facebook web portal.
The San Francisco Chronicle, Web measurement firm Compete Inc. counted 13 percent of portals' December traffic as being attributable to Facebook. eBay stood second with 7.61 percent; and finally Google with 7-percent share remained third and Myspace was fourth with just 2 percent.
From the Chronicle: "Google accounted for 21.3 percent of referrals to sites catering to movie fans, but Facebook was second with 12.4 percent. And in a video category, Google -- which owns YouTube -- was first with 22.9 percent, but Facebook was next at 12.7 percent."
From these results we can conclude that Facebook is beating and works like a slow poison for Google.
